New Surveys by FPgirl Reveal Gen Z Girls’ Plans for Summer Fun
FashionPlaytes, Inc. today released new data about how tween girls are planning to spend their summer â Movies! Books! Toes in the sand! -- based on the most recent revelations from the FPgirl Market Insights Program. According to the results, Gen Z girls canât wait for summer to start so they can shed their normal routines and focus on fun activities with friends and family.
When it comes to activities this summer, diving into the pool and hitting the beach with friends are what they are looking forward to most. With more than 4,300 votes, chilling at the pool was the girlsâ top priority (36%), while relaxing at the beach (28%) and traveling to fun places with their family (22%) were also in the mix for their summer of fun, followed by going to their favorite summer camp and visiting grandparents (poll results).
When asked about their dream vacation, Gen Z girls still preferred a trip to the beach, with 36% of the more than 2,000 girls that responded choosing âsomewhere tropical where I can put my toes in the sand.â Trips to historical places like Rome or Paris (30%) and going on a cruise (24%) were their next choices, but traveling across the country in an RV or visiting national parks were low on their summer travel wish list (poll results). At the pool, girls are looking forward to showing off their new bathing suits (69%) and sunglasses (13%) (poll results), with 54% of the girls preferring to wear a bikini over a tankini, one-piece suit or swim shirt and bottoms.
Visiting their favorite theme park was also mentioned by girls in their comments. Capturing those summer memories is also important to the girls, as shown by this comment: âIâm gonna film my whole summer like a video diary to look back and see what I did all summer!â
When not at the beach or pool, Gen Z girls are diving into fun summer reading and trips to the movies. The next installment in Simon & Schusterâs Dork Diaries series is the book they canât wait to get their hands on (gathering a whopping 64% of the more than 2,200 votes cast), while Universal Studioâs Despicable Me 2 is their must-see movie (34% of nearly 3,400 votes cast), followed closely by Disney/Pixarâs Monsters University. Gen Z girls are also looking forward to seeing Fox 2000 Picturesâ Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, but hope that the movie sequel follows the book series more closely than the original (poll results).
âThis summer is all about fun for Gen Z girls as they look to make the most of the warm weather months and time off from school year activities,â said Dana Stanley, Vice President of Research for FashionPlaytes. âAnd while having fun is at the top of their lists, they have very specific plans and are vocal about how they would like to spend their time off with friends and family.â
