Short Film Inspired by Housing Crisis and Rise in Suicides Due to Economy to Debut at Film Festival in SF July 6; Written and Produced by Gini Graham Scott, Changemakers Productions

The Suicide Party, a short film about a once successful businessman, who holds a suicide party with friends to raise enough to save his house and get back on his feet or heâll end it all, will have its grand premier at a Film Festival at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on Saturday, July 6.

The story was inspired the struggles of writer/producer Gini Graham Scott with the foreclosure crisis leading her to sell her own house in Oakland and move to San Francisco. Also, it was inspired by the news about the rise in suicides due to the economic meltdown of the last five years.

Book and script writer, Gini Graham Scott, an author of over 50 books, 15 scripts, and 50 short videos, wrote the script after her own experiences in dealing with the mortgage meltdown. This occurred as her credit cards approached their limit and Wells Fargo, the Bank of America, and CitiCard reduced her credit limit, so she could no longer pay her mortgage, leading her to wonder what someone might do if they lost their house and faced the prospect of living on the streets. Thus, the idea for The Suicide Party was born.

Now after the San Francisco film festival, there are plans to participate in film festivals all over the country. A feature film based on the script is now in preproduction with plans to film in September.

Meanwhile, writer Gini Graham Scott has another film in development Deadly Affair with Kuhr Productions, about a beat cop who has an affair with a neighborhood activist. She is killed soon after he sees her and he could be the suspect, so he investigates with the help of his brother-in-law, a homicide detective, to find the real killer, before he is arrested and faces a scandal.

Scott has also published two books on making and financing films: and . Her book on film funding techniques Finding Funds for Your Film or TV Project, will be published by Hal Leonard in November.
