Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Windows Talk Heating Up, Execs Happy

Over the past month or so, we have talked quite a bit about Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows 8.1. This is something millions of people are looking forward to. Not to mention the fact that the company itself sees the update as a major milestone.

Right now, Windows discussions are at a fever pitch. All eyes are on Steve Ballmer and team, waiting to see if the 8.1 update is all it is cracked up to be.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Exec Speaks

A recent Windows blog post by Brandon LeBlanc takes a closer look at recent Windows discussions, including what Tami Reller, Executive Vice President of Marketing had to say at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2013.

Reller was joined on stage by Kirk Skaugen, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s PC Client Group to discuss all things Windows. As you can imagine, a lot of good information can be extracted from this keynote.

Reller discussed a variety of topics, including the future availability of Windows 8.1 as well as the current momentum of Windows 8. With school back in session, she note a “bump in activations.” In fact, you may be surprised to find that August activations were the highest for Windows 8 thus far.

One of the most interesting topics covered during the keynote regarded the retail work of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), more specifically the Windows Stores that are available within Best Buy Stores.

She added that the company “launched Windows Stores Only at Best Buy in June and today we have more than 400 stores up and running all around the country.”

Establishing a solid retail presence is something many have been expecting from Microsoft, and it is safe to say its partnership with Best Buy has allowed it to do just that.

At this point, nobody really knows what the future holds for Windows 8.1. One thing is for sure, however: Reller, along with the rest of the Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) team, are excited to find out. The next few months are going to be critical for the software giant, and we will be keeping an eye on how things progress.
