Will We See the New iPhone 6 in Less Than a Month?
Apple is planning to unveil the new iPhone 6 on Tuesday, September 6, at least according to the re/code site, which did not mention its sources. Apple is expected to hold a major media event to reveal the phone. Widely circulated rumors say that the phone will be available in two versions, both with larger screens than the current model. One is expected to have a 4.7-inch screen, and the other a phablet-sized 5.5-inch screen.
Other rumors are that the phone will contain a battery with 15 percent longer life, that the phone will use advanced LED back-lighting to reduce the device’s thickness and weight, that the screen will be harder to break, and that the bezel size will be reduced to shrink the overall size of the phone.
Apple and Samsung Declare a Partial Truce
Apple and Samsung (OTC: SSNLF) have both agreed to withdraw their patent lawsuits from courts outside of the U.S., which should decrease the amount of litigation between the two companies over patent infringement disputes. The agreement, however, does not extend to lawsuits that are currently being litigated within the U.S. — those will continue to go forward.
Settlement Rejected in Hiring Conspiracy Case Involving Apple and Others
A federal judge rejected a $324.5 settlement offer, saying the amount was too low, in a class-action lawsuit where tech workers sued Apple, Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) , Intel (NASDAQ: INTC), and Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE). The workers claimed the companies had conspired to avoid hiring each others’ employees, thereby limiting the workers’ job mobility and their potential salaries.
