Good Morning advisors, to open up your week, we wanted to showcase what your colleagues have been heavily researching last week. In particular, while the Energy Sector has taken a beating, there is one company doubling down…Blackstone Group (BX) was in the spotlight last week after the asset management firm said that its Blackstone Energy Partners affiliate closed the sale of a 42% stake in Cheniere Energy Partners (CQP) to Brookfield Infrastructure for $7 billion. Blackstone and affiliates initially invested $1.5 billion in Cheniere Energy Partners to build two liquefaction trains in Louisiana in 2012. While the stock saw minimal reaction to the asset sale, traffic to BX increased exponentially Thursday and remained elevated Friday. The stock is up 2% Monday.
In fact, Blackstone was the third most read stock ticker by financial advisors last week behind Tesla (TSLA) and Apple (AAPL), according to TrackStarIQ rankings.
