%Google ($GOOGL) has unveiled its first ever %Smartwatch, as well as new %Smartphones, at its annual developer conference.
The Google %PixelWatch combines the tech giant’s proprietary Wear operating system with Fitbit health tracking. %WearableTech company Fitbit was acquired by Google for $2.1 billion U.S. in 2019.
The new smartwatch can be paired with Android devices only and is compatible with 4G wireless internet, which means it can function on its own without being near a phone provided its on a data plan.
Google has not revealed the price for the Pixel Watch but said it will be a “premium product” when it launches this fall.
Google’s Pixel Watch faces tough competition from both %Apple ($AAPL) and Samsung, which are already market leaders in the smartwatch category.
Despite some speculation that the Pixel Watch might pair with Apple products, Google confirmed that this will not be the case.
Google also announced two new Pixel smartphones – the budget Pixel 6a and premium Pixel 7, which each go on sale in July of this year.
The company also revealed a new Pixel tablet to be released in 2023, and updated earbuds called %PixelBudsPro that will have 11 hours of battery life on a single charge.
