Consumer electronics giant %Apple (AAPL) is expected to unveil iOS 16 and a host of other new features for its most popular devices at its annual developers conference.
Apple’s %WorldwideDevelopersConference kicks off virtually today (June 6) and runs through Friday (June 10). At the widely attended event, Apple is expected to showcase iOS 16, its newest operating system.
iOS 16 will reportedly include a revamped notification center and lock screen for iPhones, as well as new health features for iMessage.
Other rumors point to a new television operating system that could tie into Apple’s smart home applications, as well as an upgrade to the Apple Watch operating system that would boost its battery life, and a brand-new MacBook Air laptop computer.
Some industry observers also expect that Apple will offer an early look at a platform thought to be called “Reality OS” that could power the company’s highly anticipated virtual reality headset, a wearable device that Apple has been rumored to be working on for several years.
Apple’s event will be livestreamed on its website and the company’s YouTube channel. It is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. EST today (June 6).
Apple stock is down 20% year to date at $145.38 U.S. per share.
