%Apple ($AAPL) has officially released its newest mobile operating system, %iOS16 which users can now download on their iPhone.
The biggest upgrades to be found with iOS 16 include new features that allow people to personalize their iPhone lock screen and changes to %iMessage.
People can now edit and unsend recently sent iMessages or mark the messages as “unread” if they want to revisit them at a later day or time.
However, the edit features only work if both parties that are sending and receiving iMessages are running iOS 16.
The interactive lock screen on iPhones running iOS 16 feature new customized fonts, photo effects, personalized wallpapers, and widgets that can add information such as calendar events, battery life, alarms, and the weather.
The lock screens can also now display updates on a sports games and food deliveries.
The iOS 16 operating system works with any iPhone model dating back to the iPhone 8 that was released in 2017, according to Apple.
The consumer electronics giant recently launched its new iPhone 14 smartphone and the latest Apple Watches, among other devices.
The company has said that downloading iOS 16 could help to revive older iPhones for people not yet ready to upgrade to a newer model.
Through iOS 16, Apple is also offering the ability to use its Fitness tracker app for movement monitoring without an Apple Watch for the very first time.
Users wanting to download the new software need to visit the software update section in “settings” on their iPhone.
Apple’s stock is down 10% this year and trading at $163.43 U.S. per share.
