Earlier this week, Durex started a “World AIDS Day” campaign that would allow you to save the world by posting a tweet. According to the campaign’s website, www.1share1condom.com, the company has promised to give away one condom for every tweet that contains the hashtag “#1share1condom”. Tweets posted between November 26 and December 1, will be taken into consideration.
The condoms will be donated to global health organizations that are fighting to combat the spread of HIV AIDS. Apart from tweets, the company will also donate condoms when users share its “World AIDS Day pictures and videos on Facebook.
The campaign has a target of 2.5 million condoms, which according to the company is the number of people who died owing to HIV related causes last year.
“We’ve supported the fight against HIV over the years, mainly through local projects,” Marketing Director Kevin Harshaw stated in a press release. “This year, we have decided to use our global market presence to create an initiative that will get the world talking and sharing.” As of 30th November, the count on its site was around 933,844 condoms, and counting….
