Samsung couldn’t resist the opportunity. There was a recent incident involving Apple Maps that left a few Australians stranded at a national park.   According to CNET,  Samsung recently took the liberty to create a display with a mud-soaked SUV car that’s surrounded by pieces of camping equipment and a sign that reads “Oops, should have got a Samsung Galaxy S III. Get navigation you can trust.”

The creative display can be seen on George Street in Sydney.

This wasn’t the first time Samsung took a dig at Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). They’ve made several digs at the Cupertino-based company, including an advert that poked fun at all the Apple fans waiting in line in front of the an Apple store.

Despite the playful marketing ploy, the battle between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics has become quite serious. Both companies are duking out matters regarding patent copyright laws and the like.  One judge found Samsung guilty of infringing on Apple’s patents last summer and the final decision is to be determined in just weeks.

Unlike most of their ventures, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s latest foray into the mobile maps business has proven to be anything but successful. In fact, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s CEO, Tim Cook, had to release an apology shortly after the iPhone 5 debuted with the new maps application. There were many complaints against the new app, common issues included incorrect maps, misplaced landmarks, and zero public transportation routes. Apple’s maps failed to compare to Google’s maps and that hurt the company quite a bit.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is currently working on their maps application so they can introduce the new version in the near future. It’s likely they’ll debut the new maps application sometime early next year. Hopefully, their new maps will be nothing like their old maps. Who knows, maybe their new maps will trump Google’s Maps.
