Oncothyreon Inc. (Nasdaq: ONTY) 50.8% LOWER; announced that the pivotal Phase 3 clinical trial of L-BLP25 (formerly referred to as Stimuvax) known as START did not meet its primary endpoint of an improvement in overall survival in patients with unresectable, locally advanced stage IIIA or stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Alterra (Nasdaq: ALTE) 24.0% HIGHER; going to be acquired by Markel in a $3.13 billion deal.

PLX Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLXT) 17.6% LOWER; confirmed that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued an administrative complaint seeking to block the proposed merger between PLX and Integrated Device Technology (NASDAQ: IDTI) announced on April 30, 2012, and is authorized to pursue a preliminary injunction in federal district court or other relief necessary to stop the deal pending a full administrative trial.

Affymax, Inc. (Nasdaq: AFFY) 9.7% LOWER; lower today amid Kathy LaPorte exercising and selling options on 5,000 shares on December 14th, which was disclosed after the markets closed Tuesday.

Blyth, Inc. (NYSE: BTH) 8.0% LOWER; announced that it and the other members of ViSalus have reached an agreement whereby Blyth increased its ownership in ViSalus to more than 80% for a payment of $57.4 million to the other members of ViSalus. In addition, the other members of ViSalus have agreed to exchange their membership interests for capital stock of ViSalus, Inc. which will be redeemable in December 2017 for a total redemption price of $147.5 million.

Markel Corporation (NYSE: MKL) 8.0% LOWER; moved to acquire Alterra Capital in a deal valued at $3.13 billion.
