Natalie Maines has revealed that the Dixie Chicks’ future is far from certain. The group will reunite this summer for two festival dates, but during a recent radio interview, Natalie said fans shouldn’t expect a full blown reunion.
During the sit down, she explained the band’s future was forever altered with the backlash following their comments regarding President George W. Bush.
At the time, Maines said she was “ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas” during a show in London, leading to threats against the band’s safety.
“I just don’t feel like it’s the Dixie Chicks’ time,” said Maines. “I feel like things were tainted permanently. So, I struggle with going out on five Grammys or going out — petering out.”
