Slovakia’s consumer price inflation eased for the second month in a row in December to its lowest level last year, data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed on Monday.
The consumer price index (CPI) rose 3.2 percent year-on-year in December, after climbing 3.4 percent in November. In October, the index rose by 3.8 percent.
Among different components, prices of education rose the most by 6 percent, followed by a 5.6 percent increase in prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages. The cost of healthcare rose by 5.5 percent.
Sequentially, the CPI dipped by 0.1 percent in December, after remaining stable in November.
In 2012, Slovakia’s average inflation was 3.6 percent, lower than the 3.9 percent registered in the previous year.
The core inflation, which excludes food prices, slowed to 3 percent in December from 3.1 percent in November. On a monthly basis, the core CPI fell by 0.1 percent in December.
