Fraport AG (FPRUF.PK,0O1R.L,FRA.DE), the owner and operator of Germany’s Frankfurt Airport or FRA, reported a 6.3 percent decline in passengers at FRA amounting to nearly 4 million. On the other hand, Fraport welcomed 57.5 million passengers at its FRA home base in 2012, up by 1.9 percent.
In the last month of 2012, the number of aircraft movements at FRA reached 34,425, 10.2 percent below December 2011 figure. However, due to the reduction in flight movements the seat load factor went up about two percent year-on-year to 73.8 percent. Accumulated maximum takeoff weights or MTOWs for the year 2012 slid 1.2 percent to about 29 million metric tons, including 2.1 million metric tons in the reporting month of December 2012.
Fraport’s five consolidated airports, such as Frankfurt Airport, Antalya, Burgas, Varna and Lima, recorded growth for the full year 2012 and together served almost 99.4 million passengers, a 2.9 percent growth over last year.
