Report of Dell Going Private

The Rumor:

Shares of Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) moved higher for a second day on Tuesday on reports that Silver Lake Partners and possibly Michael Dell’s Own PE firm, MSD Capital, could be involved in a deal.

CNBC’s David Faber reported after the close the deal could be announced within 2 weeks, at a price of $13.50 to $14.00/share.

Dell closed at $13.17 Tuesday, a gain of 7% on 6.5 times average volume. Dell traded below $13.00, after-hours.

ConocoPhillips to Sell Cedar Creek Anticline Properties to Denbury Subsidiary for $1.05B

The Deal:

ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) announced Tuesday it has entered into an agreement to sell its properties in the Cedar Creek Anticline to Denbury Resources’s (NYSE: DNR) principal operating subsidiary for $1.05 billion before customary adjustments. The properties comprise approximately 86,000 net acres in southwestern North Dakota and eastern Montana.

Denbury Resources closed at $17.76 Tuesday, a gain of 5% on 3 times average volume.

Symantec to Sell Altiris Division

The Rumor:

Shares of Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC) rose Tuesday, on a report it plans to sell Altiris, according to sources. Symantec paid $830 million for the software management company in 2007.

Symantec closed at $20.85 Tuesday, a gain of 4.72% for the day on more than twice average volume.
