Italy’s Exports Increase In November

Italy’s exports rose by seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent in November from the prior month reflecting growth in sales for non-European markets, the statistical office Istat reported Wednesday.

Sales to non-European markets climbed 0.9 percent month-on-month, while that to European markets dropped 0.1 percent. At the same time, imports dropped 2.2 percent due to the reduction in purchases by non-European countries.

On a yearly basis, overall exports grew 3.6 percent, while imports slipped 8.2 percent in November.

In November, overall trade balance totaled EUR 2.4 billion, which is smaller than a EUR 2.66 billion surplus forecast by economists. The surplus with EU countries came in at EUR 0.5 billion and that with non-EU nations totaled EUR 1.9 billion.
