A student at MIT has come up with a novel technology that will keep track of your drinking.
23-year-old Dhairya Dand ended up in the hospital after a blackout, caused by excessive drinking. Inspired by the event, he decided to come up with a solution and invented a set of LED ice cubes that alert drinkers if they’re taking in too much alcohol.
How does it work? These transparent little cubes turn green once you’ve had your first drink. They turn yellow when you are nearing excessive levels, and red when you should stop because you’ve had too much.
An inbuilt accelerometer keeps track of how often you raise your glass, i.e., taking it to and back from your lips, thereby keeping an accurate check on your consumption levels. Also packed in it is a timer that figures out how intoxicated the drinker is. All these equipment are placed inside the waterproof cubes to make sure that the party does not get nasty for you.
