US Airways (NYSE: LCC) is ticking lower Thursday amid news out of acquisition target AMR Corp. (OTCBB: AAMRQ).

AMR unveiled a new logo and look for its aircraft earlier amid conducting talks with US Airways. Despite there being a lot of moving parts, does the new look hint that AMR might rather go it alone rather than be absorbed by US Air?

The release also stated, “American plans to continue taking delivery of new planes this year as part of its historic orders for 550 new aircraft.”

American Eagle and AMR’s AAdvantage program also will get a new look as of today.

US Airways sought a deal to acquire AMR shortly after AMR filed for bankruptcy protection on November 29, 2011. A combination of the two would produce the world’s largest airline, surpassing United Continental Holdings (NYSE: UAL).

SHares of AMR are up on the session, while US Airways is down over one percent.
