Google is now inviting artists to participate in the sixth annual Doodle 4 Google contest. This year’s topic is “My Best Day Ever.”
The annual program, which has been a round since 2008, invites U.S. K-12 students to get creative with their colors and redesign the Google’s homepage logo. And the prize? The winning student artist will have his or her artwork appear on Google’s homepage. The student will also receive a $30,000 college scholarship, plus a $50,000 technology grant for his school and goodies, which include a Google Chromebook, a Wacom digital design tablet, and a T-shirt with their doodle.
Google has partnered with the American Museum of Natural History for this year’s edition of the competition. They will be hosting a special exhibition of the 50 State Winners in New York City, after the announcement of the National Winner on May 22, through July 14th.
In 2012, 114,000 budding artists had submitted their entries for the competition, from which 7-year-old Dylan Hoffman from Wisconsin was chosen as a winner. His entry consisted of a treasure island with pirates, treasure, a big colorful parrot and more, for the theme “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…”
Participants have 64 days to submit their artwork via mail or the Web. Entry forms can be downloaded online, and submissions must reach Google by March 22nd.
