Driving Study Finds Nickelback Leads To Unsafe Driving

A study conducted by Confused.com claims that listening to Nickelback while behind the wheel may lead to erratic driving habits. Other musical artists potentially harmful to drivers included Guns ‘n’ Roses and Kanye West.

On the flip side, the study says that listening to more soothing artists, like Coldplay, Radiohead and Lana del Rey, may lead to safer driving.

For the study, the site had four men and four women drive for 250 miles using the MotorMate safe driving app while listening to a particular soundtrack.

“If you want to encourage safe driving, you want to choose your own playlist choose music that more or less maintains your resting body state,” says London University psychologist Dr. Simon Moore in an accompanying video. “So anything between 60 and 80 beats per minute. Keep the noise levels down to a medium.”
