Idea Cellular Ltd., a part of the $24-billion Aditya Birla Group and India’s leading GSM mobile services operator, reported higher net profits and incomes, both on consolidated and stand-alone basis, in the third-quarter.
Consolidated Results
The Gandhi Nagar-based company posted a third-quarter consolidated net profit of Rs.228.57 crore or Re.0.69 per share, compared with Rs.200.98 crore or Re.0.61 per share in the third-quarter of last year. Net profit and earnings per share rose by 14 and 13 percent respectively.
Its quarterly income, including other operating income, amounted to Rs.5,578.58 crore, compared with Rs.5,032.82 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, an increase of 11 percent.
For the nine months, the company’s consolidated net profit was Rs.702.75 crore, higher by 45 percent than the Rs.484.01 crore a year ago. Total income, including other operating income, amounted to Rs.16,396.27 crore, compared with Rs.14,268.50 crore for the Apr-Dec 2011 period, reflecting a 15 percent growth.
Stand-alone Results
The company posted a third-quarter stand-alone net profit of Rs.182.69 crore, up by 12 percent than the Rs.162.89 crore in the prior-year quarter. Total income, including other operating income stood at Rs.5,467.40 crore, compared with Rs.4,966.45 crore in the year-ago quarter, an increase of ten percent.
Contrary to expectation, the ‘Average Realized Rate per Minute’ (ARPM) fell this quarter to 41.1 paise from 41.3 paise per minute in Q2FY13.
For the Apr-Dec 2012 period, the company’s net profit was Rs.564.10 crore, higher by 46 percent than the Rs.386.56 crore for Apr-Dec 2011. Total income, including operating income, stood at Rs.16,121.41 crore, compared with Rs.14,027.71 crore in the corresponding period a year-ago, an increase of 15 percent.
At the BSE, Idea Cellular closed Tuesday’s trading at Rs.113.50, up Re.0.70 or 0.62 percent on a volume of 13,70,000 shares.
