Lucasfilm is pushing back the scheduled 3D releases of “Star Wars” prequels “Episode II: Attack of the Clones” and “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” in order to focus exclusively on the production of “Star Wars: Episode VII,” the studio revealed to entertainment Weekly.
“Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall’s scheduled release of Episodes II and III in 3D.”
“Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date.”
“Episode VII,” revealed Disney (which bought LucasFilm last year), will be directed by “Lost” creator/helmer J.J. Abrams. It’s set for a 2014 release.
