Apple has announced that it will be offering its fourth-generation iPad with Retina display and twice the storage capacity of previous models. It looks like upgrade is being targeted at enterprise users who’ve replaced their laptops and desktops with a slim, sleek and reasonably powerful tablet.
The new device will be available for purchase on February 5 for a price of $799 for the Wi-Fi-only version. If you’d like it with Wi-Fi + Cellular, then be prepared to pay $929. This version comes with 9.7-inch Retina display, a sharp Face Time HD camera and is powered by the A6X processor. The big difference is its massive storage capacity.
Apple is also showing off the number of applications available on its app store. 800,000 apps in total, and 300,000 apps designed just for the iPad ! And iPad works well with 3D CAD files, film edits, music tracks, and other files, allowing users to access their media anywhere to make references, presentations and more.
Yes, Apple’s user base is solid and is likely to remain so. However, more affordable alternatives like the Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7 tablets are out there in the market, which Apple had owned completely a few years ago. To combat these lighter, lower-priced threats, Apple unveiled iPad Mini in late 2012. At the moment, Apple’s spirit of continuous innovation keeps it ahead of the competition. If the company stops being the trendsetter, the rivals, who have been biding their time, could eat up its market share instantly.
