Research In Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM), which is in the process of changing its name to match the BlackBerry devices it produces, surprised the world this morning when it revealed a top-secret feature for BlackBerry 10.
While consumers had been hoping to see new apps or a superior OS, they quickly learned that BlackBerry 10 is far more powerful than they imagined. In fact, it is so powerful that it can cut off ponytails.
During the live stream of the company’s long-awaited event, Research In Motion interviewed a man who said he would not cut his ponytail until BlackBerry 10 was released. However, when the man stepped in front of the camera, the event host was surprised to see that he still had his ponytail.
The man said he had gotten attached to his ponytail and was hesitant to cut it off. After being coaxed, however, he agreed to let Research In Motion remove his unnecessary hair.
The attending crowd went wild; those watching from home were speechless. Investors responded by abandoning the stock, which has plummeted more than five percent this morning. While Research In Motion had soared over the last few months, it dropped more than 11 percent over the last five days.
