In the news in recent days came word that, not only are national average gasoline prices at a record high for this time of the year, but that motorists in California are paying more than $4 a gallon once again after pump prices rose 25 cents per gallon in just the last two weeks.
Fortunately, it’s not like that everywhere in the U.S. as indicated in the Gasbuddy heat map below.
This has got to be some sort of a record in gas price disparity as parts of the country are paying about $3 a gallon while others are paying about $4 a gallon. According to the latest Energy Department data, West Coast gas prices rose to $3.74 per gallon last week while Rocky Mountain prices rose to $3.14, however, as shown above, the exact prices paid vary greatly depending upon exactly where you are in those two areas.
