SAS AB (SASDY.PK,SASDF.PK), or SAS Group, posted a sharply narrower fourth-quarter pre-tax loss of 823 million Swedish kroner, versus last year’s loss of 2.69 billion kroner, with net loss reducing to 630 million kroner, from 2.54 billion kroner a year before, mainly due to the additional capitalization of loss carryforwards.
On a per share basis, quarterly loss shrinked to 1.91 euros, from 7.72 euros loss in the earlier year period.
Revenue for the recent quarter totaled 9.6 billion kroner, an increase from the prior year’s 9.3 billion kroner. Adjusted for currency effects and nonrecurring items, revenues went up 4.8% year-on-year. The company attributed the growth mainly to passenger revenue, which adjusted for currency effects, rose 6.3%.
In 2012/2013, the 4XNG plan is expected to generate a positive impact on earnings of 1.5 billion kroner.
