Switzerland’s consumer prices decreased at a steady pace in February, and the rate of fall matched economists’ forecast, latest data showed Friday.
The consumer price index decreased 0.3 percent on an annual basis in February, as it did in the previous month, the Federal Statistical Office said. The rate of decrease was in line with economists’ forecast.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index moved up 0.3 percent in February, in line with economists’ expectations.
Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP), measured under the EU methodology, increased 0.1 percent year-on-year in February, after falling 0.5 percent in January. Sequentially, the HICP moved up 0.3 percent, faster than the previous month’s 0.1 percent gain.
