BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) managing director in India Sunil Dutt has quit, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI).
The news comes just a few days after BlackBerry debuted its new Z10 smartphone in the country.
Replacing Dutt will be BlackBerry Global Sales EVP Rick Costanzo.
A spokesperson for BlackBerry told PTI, “India is an extremely important market for BlackBerry and our aim is to continue to build on our recent momentum with the launch of BlackBerry 10.”
No speculation was made about the sudden departure of Dutt. He joined BlackBerry back in 2011, PTI noted.
Earlier this week, CEO Thorsten Heins commented that 5 days of Z10 inventory sold out in just two days in India.
BlackBerry began sales in India during the last week of February. The Z10 is a high-end device for the market, pricing in at 43,490 rupees, or roughly $800 at the time.
Shares of BlackBerry are down 1.2 percent Friday.
