Gem Diamonds Ltd. (GEMD.L) said it incurred an overall attributable loss of $117.9 million post the impact of exceptional items in 2012, including discontinued operations, resulting in a loss per share of 85 cents per share for the recent year. Excluding exceptional items, profit attributable to shareholders for the year stood at $17.1 million, equating to 12 cents per share profit on a weighted average number of shares in issue of 138 million.
Underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation or EBITDA on an underlying basis were $65.5 million in 2012, down from $166.5 million a year earlier, predominately driven by the lower revenue achieved by the Group which reduced by $104.0 million from 2011.
Revenue fell 34 percent to $202.1 million this year, from the prior year’s $306.1 million.
