Italy’s EU harmonized inflation slowed in February, in line with preliminary estimates, final data from statistical office Istat showed Tuesday.
Inflation as per the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) slowed to 2 percent in February from 2.4 percent in the previous month, and matched the flash estimates.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices rose 2.3 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices remained unchanged. There was a 4.7 percent year-on-year increase in housing costs and utility prices during the month, and a 2.5 percent gain in transportation costs, data showed.
On a monthly basis, the HICP decreased 0.2 percent in February, in line with the initial estimates, data showed.
Inflation as per the consumer price index eased to 1.9 percent in February from 2.2 percent in January. Month-on-month, consumer prices edged up 0.1 percent, as estimated earlier, after rising 0.2 percent in January. by RTT Staff Writer
