Japan’s industrial production grew only 0.3 percent in January from the previous month, final data published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed Thursday. The rate of growth was trimmed from the prior estimate of 1 percent.
Shipments, meanwhile, declined 0.3 percent compared to a 0.1 percent rise initially estimated. At the same time, the decline in inventory was revised to 0.4 percent from 0.5 percent.
Inventory ratio dropped 3.2 percent, which was slower than the preliminary estimate of 3.7 percent.
On a yearly basis, industrial production declined 5.8 percent in January.
The capacity utilization rate grew at a slower pace of 1.7 percent from the prior month, when it was up 2.9 percent, it said.
