Hungary’s producer prices increased 0.8 percent year-on-year in February, reversing a 0.9 percent fall in January, the Central Statistical Office said Friday. The annual rate matched economists’ expectations.
However, on a monthly basis, producer prices climbed at a slower pace of 0.4 percent, after rising 1.4 percent in January. In February, the domestic sales prices of industry rose 1.1 percent.
Prices were up in almost all industries and overall producer prices were basically influenced by price changes registered in manufacturing branches.
Final trade data for January from the statistical office showed that the trade surplus came in at EUR 316.2 million compared to the preliminary estimate of EUR 317.9 million surplus. Exports rose 0.9 percent and imports gained 3.3 percent from the previous year in January.
