WHAT: DESIGN CHALLENGE âSchool of the Futureâ
The Design Challenge is an interactive event produced by the Los Angeles Education Partnership (LAEP) that showcases the way teachers in LAEP partner schools inspire students in class every day. It is LAEPâs annual fundraiser, raising much-needed funds to support the nonprofitâs work throughout the year with students in the cityâs high-poverty neighborhoods. During this fast-paced, fun event, attendees experience project-based learning, a creative approach to hands- on learning and teamwork. Teams of luminaries drawn from the worlds of business, science, entertainment, education, sports, art, architecture, and other fields build three-dimensional answers to an education-related question. Each team works with an identical box of materials and a limited amount of time. The competition between teams requires speed, ingenuity, and audience participation. Itâs fun! Itâs creative!
