Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has to be excited about the upcoming release of Xbox One. The company holds a huge chunk of the market with its current console, and is expecting more of the same this time around.
Steve Ballmer and friends at Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) may not be able to make up much ground in the smartphone market, but this hasn’t stopped the company from doing big things for those who enjoy gaming.
Of course, it will be the ability for the Xbox One to set itself apart from the crowd that will eventually determine how successful it really is.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) Xbox One Self-Publishing
Hugh Armitage of Digital Spy took a closer look at the Xbox One indie self-publishing program, reporting that the company “consulted with over 50 developers over its plans for the ID@Xbox platform.”
This is what you like to hear. Microsoft is not acting like it knows everything. Instead, the company has worked closely with more than 50 developers to gain a better grasp of what the industry is looking for.
A Free Game with Xbox One?
Christopher Dring of MCV announced some good news yesterday: European consumers who pre-order Xbox one will receive a free copy of FIFA 14.
This may only be for a small market of buyers – those who pre-order and those who live in Europe – but it is a huge offering nonetheless.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) made this announcement at its pre-Gamescom press conference.
Why does the company feel they have to do this? In short, it will go a long way in helping consumers feel like they are getting more bang for their buck.
MCV went on to note that EA, the creator of FIFA 14, has a partnership with Xbox, allowing “exclusive FIFA Ultimate Team Legend packs be made available exclusively on the next-generation console.”
Microsoft is not sitting still, waiting for November to roll around so it can finally release Xbox One to consumers throughout the world. Instead, the company is searching for ways to make this another huge success. By getting serious about its self-publishing program, as well as offering a free game to European consumers, it is easy to see that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is doing whatever it can to impress everybody from developers to consumers.
How excited do you think these hedge fund managers are about the upcoming release of Xbox One: Sandy Nairn, James Litinsky, Kelly Cardwell, and Jeffrey Ubben.
