Economic data Tuesday included PPI little changed.

Retail Sales were stronger but missed expectations (ex-Autos & Gas 0.4% vs 0.6% expected & prior 0.5%); Business Inventories were modestly higher (.0.3% vs 0.2% expected & prior 0.0%) and Small Business Optimism fell (95.2 vs 98.2 expected & prior 98).

Of the major indexes Tuesday, the Dow was the standout but rising only slightly.

The price-weighted index featured only a few constituents higher led by Chevron (CVX), Exxon (XOM) and 3M (MMM) making gains narrow.

Elsewhere overseas markets including Europe and Emerging Markets continue to pace investment gains.
