The major release opening this weekend is Disney (DIS) and Pixar’s “Incredibles 2,” an animated superhero film that launched with $18.5M from Thursday previews. The film is expected to win at the box office this weekend with a domestic gross of as high as $140M, which would be a record for an animated movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Also out this weekend is Warner Bros. (TWX) comedy “Tag,” starring Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Ed Helms, Hannibal Burress, and Jake Johnson. The film is expected to come in third this weekend with a domestic gross in the range of $12M-$15M. Warner Bros.’ “Ocean’s 8,” which won at the box office last weekend, is anticipated to come in second a week after its release, with an expected domestic gross of around $20M-$21M. Disney’s latest “Star Wars” film, “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” is forecast to come in fourth with a gross of $9M-$10M, while Fox’s (FOXA) superhero flick “Deadpool 2” is expected to round out the weekend with a domestic haul of about $8M. Other publicly traded companies in filmmaking include Comcast (CMCSA, CMCSK), Sony (SNE), Lionsgate (LGF.A), and Viacom (VIA, VIAB).
