Disney (DIS) is in talks to buy Comcast’s (CMCSA) 30% stake in Hulu, CNBC’s Alex Sherman reports, citing people familiar with the matter. According to the people, Comcast is “weighing the pros and cons of doing a deal now rather than later,” and is considering a number of factors with regard to a sale, including valuation, using sale proceeds to pay down debt and support the dividend, and future controls over Hulu. Hulu last week bought back a 9.5% stake in itself from Time-Warner owner AT&T (T), in a deal that values Hulu at $15B, and that 9.5% stake will be split between Disney and Comcast, unless Disney consolidates the entire company.
