Carson Block’s Muddy Waters announced this morning a short position in NMC Health (NMHLY). “We have serious doubts about the company’s financial statements, including its asset values, cash balance, reported profits, and reported debt levels,” the firm known for short selling said in a research post on its website. “Inflated asset purchase prices and capital expenditures are hallmarks of significant fraud,” it added. Muddy believes NMC has “manipulated its balance sheet to understate debt.” Shares of NMC Health closed Monday up $1.50 to $34.68 buy are trading down 15% following the short report.
