Lynx Air, a new low-cost airline, says it will launch a new service from its headquarters in Calgary, Alberta.
Lynx Air describes itself as an “ultra-low-cost carrier” that offers stripped-down fares to budget-conscious travellers.
The airline has named Merren McArthur as its chief executive officer (CEO). McArthur previously served as CEO of Tigerair Australia, Virgin Australia Regional Airlines and Virgin Australia Cargo.
McArthur says routes and schedules will be announced soon. She says the airline expects to hire 450 people to support its upcoming launch.
The airline says it has firm orders in place for a total of 46 Boeing 737s over the next seven years. The first three aircraft will arrive in early 2022.
