Danish financial technology (%Fintech) company %Lunar has raised $77 million U.S. and plans to use the funds to develop a new %Cryptocurrency trading platform.

Lunar says it aims to make cryptocurrency trading “hassle-free” for global customers. Where users currently have a cryptocurrency account separate from their bank account, Lunar is looking to combine both banking and cryptocurrency accounts going forward.
The company, based in Aarhus, Denmark, already offers checking accounts, loans, investments in stocks and mutual funds, and business accounts for small and medium-sized enterprises.
The latest $77 million U.S. funding round is an extension of Lunar’s $232 million U.S. Series D round that occurred last July and gave the company a valuation greater than $1 billion U.S., giving it “unicorn status.”
The firm made headlines in February when it revealed that actor Will Ferrell is an investor in Lunar. The company has since developed a promotional video featuring the Saturday Night Live alum.
