%Samsung Electronics ($SSNLF) has announced a partnership with non-fungible token (%NFT) auction site %NiftyGateway that brings NFTs to its television sets.
In a press release, Nifty Gateway said that it’s “now integrated with Samsung’s NFT platform,” letting users “browse, display, and %InteractwithNFTs on the company’s premium TVs, including the QLED and Neo QLED sets.
Nifty Gateway said it is also launching an app that will be included on Samsung’s The Frame and Micro LED TV sets.
The arrangement enables people to display NFTs on Samsung TVs. In a statement, Samsung reiterated that its TVs will “optimize the settings for a faithful rendering of the artist’s intention” when displaying NFTs.
Nifty Gateway’s integration is part of Samsung’s “Smart Hub,” and is intended to allow people to display NFTs as ambient artwork on the TV sets.
While some critics have dismissed the partnership with Nifty Gateway as an expensive screensaver, Samsung says it will enable people to buy and sell NFTs through the Nifty Gateway app that’s available on its TVs.
