Canadian trucking and logistics firm Mullen Group (MTL) reported that its second-quarter
revenue rose 67% from a year earlier and that its profit nearly doubled in the period.
The company, which is based outside Calgary, Alberta, said that its revenue hit record levels in
the April through June period due to acquisitions, price increases, fuel surcharges, and strong
customer demand.
Specifically, Mullen Group reported that it earned $42.7 million, or $0.43 per share for the
second quarter. That was up 97% from a profit of $21.7 million, or $0.23 a share, in the same
quarter of last year.
Q2 revenue totalled $521.5 million, up 67% from $312.5 million a year ago.
Mullen Group’s stock gained 12% on news of its second quarter results, brining its year-to-date
increase to 13%. The stock is now trading at $13.12 per share.
