TMX Group (X), which runs the Toronto Stock Exchange, has named Luc Bertrand as the new chair of its board of directors effective on May 2 of this year.
Bertrand replaces Charles Winograd, who is retiring after serving as chair for more than a decade.
Bertrand himself has been a board member of the TMX Group since 2011.
In a written statement, TMX Group said that Bertrand’s business knowledge, experience and commitment to corporate governance will be an asset to its board of directors.
Prior to his association with TMX Group, Bertrand served in several senior positions including president of the Montreal Stock Exchange, which is primarily a derivatives exchange.
TMX Group’s stock has risen 3% in the past 12 months to trade at $134.90 per share.
