Social media platform %WhatsApp will allow users to edit their text messages, but only for up to 15 minutes after they are initially sent.
%MetaPlatforms ($META), which owns WhatsApp, said the new edit feature will be made available to all its two billion users in coming weeks.
Altered messages will be tagged with an “edited” notification, alerting others that a change has been made.
Other messaging apps such as Signal and Telegram already offer similar editing features. Twitter provides a 30-minute message editing window to people who subscribe to its paid Twitter Blue service.
Meta, which also owns Facebook and Instagram, has been working in recent months to enhance the features on its social media platforms.
There are media reports that Meta plans to launch a competitor to Twitter this year, though the company has not confirmed if those reports are true or not.
Meta Platforms’ stock has risen 27% in the last 12 months to trade at $248.32 U.S. per share.
