Canadian oil and natural gas producer Suncor Energy (SU) has been hit by a cyberattack.
The Calgary-based company said in a statement that it has notified authorities of a cybersecurity incident and is working with third-party experts to resolve the situation.
Suncor added that it is not aware of any data belonging to customers, suppliers or employees being compromised.
However, the company is warning that some transactions with customers and suppliers may be negatively impacted by the cyberattack.
Suncor Energy is the latest Canadian firm to report being attacked by cyber criminals.
Empire Co. (EMP.A), the parent company of grocery chain Sobeys, and book retailer Indigo (IDG) have also been targeted by hackers in the last year.
Suncor Energy’s stock has fallen 18% over the past 12 months to trade at $37.51 a share.
