ChatGPT Usage Falls For Third Consecutive Month: Report

Use of %ChatGPT has declined for a third consecutive month as people appear to be losing interest in the %ArtificialIntelligence (A.I.) application, according to analytics firm %Similarweb.

Launched last November, the A.I. chatbot proved to be extremely popular, attracting billions of people around the world. However, that trend now seems to be reversing.

Worldwide visits to the ChatGPT website decreased by 3.2% to 1.43 billion in August, following 10% drops in each of the previous two months, said Similarweb.

The amount of time people are spending with ChatGPT is also waning, a downward trend that has been consistent since March of this year.

Users are now spending an average of seven minutes a day on ChatGPT, down from 8.7 minutes at the start of 2023.

Similarweb notes that the return of work and school after the summer might help ChatGPT’s traffic and usage numbers rise going forward.

ChatGPT had reached 100 million monthly active users in January of this year, just two months after its launch, making it one of the most popular technology applications ever.

Despite the recent decline in usage, ChatGPT remains one of the top 30 websites in the world, according to Similarweb.

ChatGPT is free to use but its creator, OpenAI, offers a premium subscription version of the chatbot for $20 U.S. per month.

OpenAI is a privately held company. Its stock does not trade on a public stock exchange.
