Weekly Initial Unemployment Claims Decrease to 187,000

The DOL reported:

In the week ending January 13, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 187,000, a decrease of
16,000 from the previous week’s revised level. This is the lowest level for initial claims since September 24, 2022 when
it was 182,000. The previous week’s level was revised up by 1,000 from 202,000 to 203,000. The 4-week moving
average was 203,250, a decrease of 4,750 from the previous week’s revised average. The previous week’s average was
revised up by 250 from 207,750 to 208,000.
