Tesla Recalls 27,000 Cybertrucks Over Faulty Rearview Camera

Electric vehicle maker Tesla (TSLA) is recalling most of the Cybertrucks it has sold in the U.S. due to delayed rearview camera images that could negatively impact driver visibility.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has ordered the recall of more than 27,000 Cybertrucks, saying the rearview camera issue increases crash risks.

The Cybertrucks currently have a glitch that delays the displaying of rearview images in the camera, a potentially dangerous situation for drivers.

Images in the rearview camera may not appear within two seconds of placing the vehicle in reverse, and the rearview camera display could appear blank for up to eight seconds.

Tesla has said that it plans to fix the problem with a software update.

This is the second time this year that Tesla has had to recall nearly all the Cybertrucks it has sold in the U.S.

Earlier in 2024, most Cybertrucks were recalled over a problem with the vehicle’s windshield wipers.

The stock of Tesla is essentially flat over the past 12 months, having risen only 1% to trade at $249.02 U.S. per share.
