Italy’s industrial new orders decreased in September after rising in the previous two months, data released by statistical office Istat showed Monday.

New orders in the domestic market dropped 1.4 percent month-on-month, while orders in the foreign market fell by 7.4 percent.

On an annual basis, industrial orders declined 12.8 percent in September, after falling 9 percent in the previous month. In the January-September period, new orders plunged 10.4 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier.

At the same time, Italy’s industrial turnover decreased a seasonally adjusted 4.2 percent sequentially in September. Turnover in the domestic market dropped 3.7 percent, while that in the overseas market fell 5.3 percent.

Compared to September 2011, industrial turnover decreased 11 percent during the month, the agency said.
