The Swiss stock market ended Friday’s trading session in positive territory. The market received solid support from the strong performance of its most heavily weighted stocks.
The Swiss Market Index increased by 0.62 percent Friday and finished at 7,188.22. The SMI ended the trading week with a gain of 1.8 percent. The Swiss Leader Index climbed by 0.46 percent and the Swiss Performance Index added 0.55 percent.
Nestle climbed by 0.7 percent, after Merrill Lynch upgraded it to a “Buy” and increased its price target. Exane BNP also confirmed its “Buy” recommendation on Nestle and increased its price target. The rest of the index heavyweights also finished the session in positive territory. Roche increased by 1.4 percent and Novartis gained 0.4 percent.
Julius Baer was among the best performing stocks of the session, with a gain of 3.5 percent. UBS climbed by 1.4 percent and Credit Suisse added 0.8 percent.
